SIET, Hyderabad was established in 1985 with cent percent financial assistance from Govt. of India, New Delhi as a Production Centre of Educational Television and Radio Programmes in regional language (Telugu) for school children in the age group of 5 to 14 years. The main objectives of the Institute is to (i) to assist the Department of School Education in Implementation of Educational Policies and Programmes both in Formal and Non-formal sectors and (ii) to undertake all activities which may seem appropriate for furtherance of above objective.It is a unitary organization and does not have any offices in any part of the State. Department of School Education in Government of Telangana are providing budget for salaries of the staff, whereas, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India is providing budget for programme production activities.
